One thing about a depressed economy is that it puts everyone in the same boat, or in this case, on the same roller coaster, though some of us are right up front, watching the next drop or twist coming, while others are in the back of that roller coaster in that "waiting" space of fear, wondering what surprise twist will come next.
Test Content
In the TOEFL, the test-taker is measured on his ability to function in an academic environment. In this regard, the vocabulary on this test is academic in nature and is similar to the vocabulary used in college text books. The topics of the reading and listening passages are similarly academic. You may read a passage on bird migration, for example, or listen to a lecture from an economics course. The TOEIC, on the other hand, measures the test-taker's ability to function in a business environment. Topics may range from dining out in a restaurant to presenting in a budget meeting.
Online education has gained quite a significant traction in recent times. It has been hailed as a fair representation of what the educational system appears to be in an emerging society. There are several reasons for which many candidates prefer undergoing business programs online, as their mode of continuing education. There are several costs that are attached to learning. Many proponents of online education find it feasible as it saves their time, cost, and many such issues that cannot be tackled while undergoing traditional educational form.
Test Formats
The TOEFL is a four-section test that includes sections for reading, listening, speaking and writing. It is taken exclusively on the computer. The TOEIC is broken into two separate but complementary exams: the Reading and Listening Test, which is a paper-and-pencil test, and the Speaking and Writing Test, which is taken on a computer. The exams are broken up in this way so potential employers can choose to measure an employee's reading and listening or speaking and writing skills only, or all four language skills. The Reading and Listening Test will take about two-and-a-half hours to complete, and for the Speaking and Writing Test, the speaking section will last about 20 minutes, and the writing section will take 60 minutes to complete.
* Trying to cover all functions in your business. You're the leader, right? The one in charge. But often business owners like yourself have honorable intentions, yet fall into the trap of taking on too much responsibility , landing them in the trapful thinking that they are the only ones that can handle everything (Yes, I made up the word trapful, but I bet you know what I'm saying).
See that dark tunnel up ahead? Get ready, because you're about to duck into it and there are probably some very sharp turns awaiting you!
Your business need not be a roller-coaster ride, or you, the business owner, tethered to some reluctant elephant. But it should be a thrill, and as a business coach, my job is to make sure that success is part of the ride.
Here's to a happy, healthy, prosperous New Year.
Students who have undergone online MBA Programs have found this mode of continuing their education extremely rewarding. In fact, working professionals vouch for this mode of education as many of them have advanced and promoted their intellectual capabilities while they were working. With this mode of education, students get to pattern their time systematically and bifurcate between studies and full-time work. Candidates taking up an online mode of education are usually a more serious breed of learners, desiring to get the best returns from their educational investments made.
* Conflicts with a co-founder who doesn't see things your way. That "vision" you both were so excited about when you joint-ventured to start the company isn't so 20/20 anymore. What you thought was a joint vision suddenly feels a little wall-eyed. Or maybe one of you is wearing horse blinders!
Others wonder how anyone can find time to read, eat, and even sleep. Don't let that be you. A few helpful tips include:
* Take regular breaks throughout the day. WALK. Business can be conducted on a walk and the fresh air will do you good.
* Pack healthy snacks. You don't have to bring your lunch daily, if that's not your thing, but you can pack healthy snacks to eat on the go. You'd be surprised at what a pick-me-up some nuts and cheese, or veggies can be. Hey, don't mock it till you've tried it.
* Consider audio books to listen to while you drive, or train yourself to skim-read for the important stuff and skip the fluff. Have your team read important resources and report what they've discovered at your management meetings.
* Before you leave work, log what you felt you accomplished and determine what needed to get done that wasn't, then create a priority list for your upcoming day.
Lastly, don't be shy about asking for help. Business today is about success through edutainment. Edutainment is the fusion of education and entertainment, and involves learning and having fun, watching your business grow, and building on skills, while strengthening your weaker areas.
